            Merseyrail 507012 descends the bank and is about go under the Liverpool city centre with a Southport - Hunts Cross service March 22nd 1991. 
* When the Northern Line was created in 1977 a line was tunnelled from Liverpool Central via Moorfields and linked into the old line to Great Howard Street Goods here. The remnants of  the elevated L&Y line into Liverpool Exchange Station are on the right. 
* Above the leading coach is a oval plaque marking the redundant Waterloo tunnel that ran from Edge Hill to Waterloo Goods and Riverside station, closed in 1972.
