            "On Thursday, July 28, 2005, a special rhododendron dedication occurred in Homestead Park. Local businessowner Brad Carpenter, of Forza Coffee Company, purchased a hybridized rhododendron at a community festival fundraiser, which he gave to his mother, Mary Ellen Carpenter. She decided to name the rhododendron after her own mother, Eleanor Bruns Stillman. Eleanor’s father, John Bruns, was among the earliest settlers in Washington state.
The Eleanor Stillman rhododendron was hybridized by Dr. Gary Becker and is in the process of being registered with the American Rhododendron Society.
The Eleanor Stillman rhododendron stands as part of the Homestead Park Rhododendron Series.
This rhododendron is a beautiful shade of red and is located near a log in Homestead Park because of special family significance. Brad and his mother Mary Ellen Carpenter proudly planted the Eleanor Stillman rhododendron in Homestead Park with the assistance of Mayor Ken Grassi and City Councilmember Lorna Smith."
