Top of the Triumph Dolomite range, and a genuine sports saloon. With an enlarged 16 valve 2 litre engine of 127bhp, designed under chief engineer Spen King, mated to a rugged TR6 style gearbox, with larger brakes and alloy wheels.

Trim was similar to the 1850, with the addition of standard alloy wheels, a vinyl roof, front spoiler, twin exhausts and lowered suspension. The seats were now cloth on the 1850, and these were also fitted to the Sprint.

From May 1975 on, overdrive and tinted glass were standard. In addition, all Sprints were fitted with body side trims, a plastic surround for the gearlever, and a driver's door mirror. Headrests were now available as an optional extra. From March 1976 headrests, a radio, and laminated windscreen were standard. In 1978, laminated windscreens became a standard fitment and in 1980, to comply with UK legislation, twin rear fog lamps were also standard.

The Dolomite Sprint was campaigned in the British Touring Car Championships 1974-78 winning the manufacturers title in 1974 with drivers Andy Rouse and Tony Dron and the drivers championship for Andy Rouse in 1975. Also the pair finished fifth overall in the 1974 Spa 24 hour race, and Dron finishing third in the RAC Tourist Trophy. In 1976 and 1977 Broadspeed entered only one car in the BTCC with Andy Rouse finishing the season 2nd in the two litre class, in 1977 Tony Dron returned as the sole driver, winning seven of the twelve races but missed out on the championship when a puncture forced retirement late in the final race with Dron leading by over a minute.
