the Royal Hussars 117th and 21st Lancers and the International Wool Secretariat. entered Austin Maxi number 70 in the 1970 Daily Mirror World Cup Rally

The crew consistsed of Cpt. Gavin Hastings, Prince Michael of Kent, Cpt. Nigel Clarkson all serving officers in the Royal Hussars.

Captain Gavin Thompson went on to complete the first motorised crossing of the Darien Gap in a Range Rover in 1972 as part of his mammoth expedition of 17000 miles traversing the Americas. He was also part of the Heinz Research Team with Captain Peter Barry and Mr. R Tucker on an expidition from Alaska to Cape Horn subsiting mainly on Heinz Baby Foods.

Captain Nigel Clarkson was a serving officer in the Royal Hussars

Prince Michael of Kent is a cousin of The Queen and a grandson of King George 5th  the 11th Hussars (Prince Albert's Own), in 1963, he later served in The Royal Hussars (Prince of Wales's Own) after the 1969 amalgamation between the 11th Hussars and the 10th Royal Hussars (Prince of Wales's Own). and saw service in Germany, Hong Kong and Cyprus. He was also an active sportsman representing Great Brittain in the 1971 Bobsleigh World Championships, as well as this appearance in the 1970 World Cup Rally he is a former Chairman of the RAC.
