Introduced in March 1990 as a replacement for the outgoing 930 Turbo before the 3600 cc M64 had been developed as for a Turbo charger. The 964 therefore was launched with the tried and tested 3299 cc unit of the earlier car. The unit had been updated and now produced a smoother power delivery, less Turbo lag and more power, with an output of 320 bhp. 3660 cars were produced
In 1992 the Turbo S was introduced with an increased 376 bhp from the 3299 cc engine, the suspension was lowered and it had a front strut brace and manual steering around 80 cars were produced.
In January 1993 the Turbo charged 3600 cc M64 engine was finally available in the new 964 Turbo 3.6. producing 360 bhp. Around 1500 cars were produced during 1993-94 the final year of the 964 Turbo

This car was offered fo auction sale at the in show Coys Auction described as - now showing 32,770 recorded miles this acr was specified with Wimbledon Green metallic paint with a light grey leather interior, this example was highly specified from new, and upgraded with a locking rear differential, Brembo brakes all round, and a Porsche 3.8 rear wing spoiler. It sold for £ 147,180 (2016)
