Created by Martin Williamson, a classic car enthusiast, and produced by Healy Designs, based in Norfolk, as an affordable kit car, but also available part built. The genesis of the car is based on the Mazda MX5, with parts from others, the headlights are the same design as used by the BMW Mini and the rear lights are off a Mk2 Nissan Micra, the MX5 parts needed for the kit are the engine, gearbox, part of the suspension, brakes, hood, interior and wiring loom, The Mazda MX5 comes with a choice of three engines, the 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0 all of which can be used and a 4.4 litre V8 sourced from a Lexus.
Tthe Healy Enigma comprises a steel chassis and a fibreglass body. Offered as a convertible, it can be ordered with either a folding hard-top roof or a more conventional fabric roof

The chassis is made by Healy and is longer than that of the donor car with a more comforable, or less direct ride, and more passenger and boot space

The design has more than a nod of resemblance to the 60's big Healey as does the name without an E
