A Land Of Contradictions (6) - a photo on Flickriver

            The last image I showed you was the tranquil view from my hotel room in Salalah, Oman. This is the view as the sun was rising on one of my last days in the country. I was so sad to leave.

I had tried to get to this country before aboard a clipper ship cruise. The cruise was a disaster for me. Perhaps it was fun for some, but I had booked the trip because of the itinerary. Sadly, the trip's captain failed to deliver on about 1/3 of the itinerary which is not acceptable. When I confronted him, and believe me that is an understatement, he told me that there was nothing to see in Oman. I knew different. I had done my research. I eventually complained and received a partial refund. Thia was my last cruise and luckily my health had improved and and I was able to travel alone again.

Eventually, I found a company that arranged an itinerary with a road trip and a driver . All's well that ends well as they say. The country is full of so many contrasting sights and the people are so welcoming. Their dress is exotic and their history so fascinating. The food is fresh and expertly prepared with spices from the Middle East. Meals are presented as a feast.  Oman is a feast for one's senses and should not be missed.
