40106 Manchester Victoria 280381 - a photo on Flickriver

            Thanks to Rail Rover for suggesting that this could be 1J14 0718 Blackpool North - Manchester Victoria , see his comment below.
Unfortunately my notes only have a date for this photo, however steaming on a Newspaper train appears very unlikely! I've tried various sources to for further gen with no luck!
Vic (Cozzy) a Victoria Driver who would of been a second man at the time, had the following comments 'If this is the morning club train, this would have been quite a rare event. The reason being the rostered loco was a CD ETH duff that worked the 0305 Man Vic Blackpool papers. The papers was double manned, so in the event the second man could have operated the boiler, it was at Blackpool where the problems would like, as the papers crew were rostered to work the 0630 DMU back.
They used to ask the second man if they would work back with the club train, this looks like one of those occasions.
The whiff of steam looks like the second man is in the process of shutting the boiler down, maybe soot blowing, as I can see no evidence of steam at the train pipe'
Now presered by the CFPS currently at the SVR.
