Iarnród Éireann 071 class '080' - a photo on Flickriver

Iarnród Éireann 071 class no 080 waits in Dublin Connolly to be detached from the 'Belmond' train. 

The service had earlier begun in Dublin Hueston and was Belfast bound. The logistics of this are quite complex. 080 hauled the MK III coaches from Hueston to Connolly via the Phoenix Park Tunell.  

Belmond liveried dedicated  201 class no 216 was joined to the front of the train for its trip to Belfast, with '080' then  returning light engine to Inchicore.  For the briefest of monents the Belmond train is  topped ant tailed by two GM's, 080 and 218, quite an unusual occurrence in Ireland ! 

At this stage it might be sensible to write that the Iarnród Éireann '071' class have almost gained cult status amongst enthusiasts , they are hugely popular on the railway.
