Static displays at the British Grand Prix are usually abysmal and this year, once again, was no exception to the rule. However, the local constabulary usually attempt to make up for it.

For a few years Northamptonshire Police and the Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) had a brilliant display of vehicles on show for the spectators. 

This year's offering was put on by Northamptonshire, Staffordshire and, surprisingly, the Metropolitan Police forces. Although smaller than usual there were still some nice things on show.

Amongst a number of vehicles parked up alongside the old start/finish straight was this BMW R1250RT from charity medical service DocBike.

DocBike works on the basis of a consultant-level doctor or critical care paramedic (usually a member of the local air ambulance service) taking to two wheels to attend collisions and incidents involving motorcycles. The service also plays a role in the 'Biker Down' initiative. 

The scheme provides free first aid training and offers guidance on how to manage an accident scene involving a motorcycle should you happen upon one.
