            A 2-photo stitch - the figures a little over-exposed, but this does bring out the colour of the roses.

A detail of the s-wall rose-window, whose tracery dates from 1450-1550. It was designed by GF Bodley and made in 1903 by Morris & Co. The glass painters were: Angels by Watson; roses, shields and stars by Wren.

The S-wall rose glass, with its beautiful complex tudor roses, starburst/compass symbols, 'ihc' symbols and scroll carrying angels was given by Sir Thomas Wardle in memory of his wife Dame Elizabeth Wardle.  Elizabeth Wardle died aged 68 in September 1902 - in January 1909 Thomas Wardle died aged 77 and his name and details were added to the brass inscription plate.
