Nashville at Night - a photo on Flickriver

Nashville at Night

            For some people, any image of downtown Nashville is synonymous with country music, honky tonks, and cowboy hats.  For me, any view of the Music City's skyline will forever evoke the mouthwatering smell of grilled cheeseburgers, which was what kept wafting across the river to taunt me while I stood out in the freezing cold on a Saturday night with only my tripod for company.

Long exposure (25 seconds) from the quay at Cumberland Park with my Olympus OM-D E-M5 and the 20mm f/1.7 lens, at f/9, ISO 200, tripod mounted.  Small enough aperture to get me some nice stars on those lights, and slow enough shutter speed to get me some good movement in those light clouds.  I have done almost nothing to this image in post – this is essentially how it looked straight out of the camera.  Not that I'm against processing – far from it.  It's just that I have nothing to say on this image about my process, since in this case I was able to take care of pretty much everything in camera.

This is one of those that really looks best big, on black.  Hit the "L" key.  Then if you're feeling really crazy select "Fullscreen".
