GPS-Tracked Reddish Egret - a photo on Flickriver

This Reddish Egret at J.N."Ding" Darling NWR looked a little worse for wear. When he lifted his leg, he revealed a "banding anklet", used for ID. When he presented his back,it looked as if he was recently wounded. In fact, the long projection from his back that looks like a stiff plume, is actually a radio antenna. Whoever banded the bird also attached a GPS unit so that the bird's movements could be tracked.
