Krasnogorsk (KMZ) FS-12 Photosniper - a photo on Flickriver

            Krasnogorsk (KMZ) FS-12 Photosniper Kit (K2320).
Over 110,000 of these were produced from 1982-1990 (or possible until 1995).
The camera is a Zenit 12S SLR 35mm film camera, which has been adapted for use with the Photosniper. After selecting the f stop, sliding the f stop cocking ring into the fully open position, so as to be able to focus with the aperture fully open, and advancing the film to cock the shutter, you pull the trigger and the camera takes a picture after releasing the f stop ring to the correct aperture you have set - which it does with a loud clunk!
People used to think the Photosniper was a KGB spy camera, but no spy would ever use something so big!!! It would have been used for sports and wildlife.
It is 585mm long at its closest focusing distance with pistol grip and lens hood fitted.
It is 630mm long at its longest (infinity) focusing distance with pistol grip and lens hood fitted .
With just the camera and lens at its shortest focusing distance it is 365mm long with lens hood fitted.
With just the camera and lens at its longest (infinity) focusing distance it is 405mm long with lens hood fitted.

This kit came with the following:
Zenit 12S SLR camera.
Trigger Gun mount.
Tair-3S 300mm f4.5 lens.
58mm f2 lens.
APS Auto Teleplus 2x Teleconverter.
One O-2.8x, one UV-1x, one Y-1.4x, one Y-2x and one YG-2x filters - all with 72x0.75 threads.
Two screwdrivers, four straps, two reloadable film cartridges, one rubber lens hood, two lens caps, one rear cap and one dedicated metal case to carry it all in.
I brought this kit in November 2017 for £100.
