I did my usual vololunteer slt, listening to children in year 5 read, at school on Thursday afternoon. Now that the afternoon break has been changed I arrive in school as classes empty and the young people are outside letting off steam. I used this time to sketch the view from behind my temporary desk, watched the whole time by two boys that had permission to stay indoors. They were amazed I could capture the scene in the 10-15 minutes that the corridor was empty and stopped all their classmates as they came in so they could look too. They were most impressed by how staright I got the vertical lines and were speechless when I explained my method, using the edge of the sketchbook to guide my hand. Each year group has three classes, distinguished by the year and second initial of each teacher. 6J is therefore the year 6 class of Mr Johnson. Carolynn supports all three year 6 classes this year. Drawn, standing against the radiator, in my pocket Moleskine using a Graphik fibre tip pen.
