Piggly Wiggly. Ferriday,Louisiana - a photo on Flickriver

            Piggly Wiggly was the first true self-service grocery store in the United States. It was founded on Sept. 6, 1916 in Memphis. Tennessee. The grocery chain was also the originator of checkout stands,individual item price marking and shopping carts. I found this two-piece vintage porcelain sign on the side of an abandoned store in Ferriday,Louisiana. 7.7.2013.
