Reddy Kilowatt was created in 1926 as a mascot for electricity generation and distribution. He has a body, limbs, and hair made of lightning bolts, a light bulb nose, and wall outlets for ears. He was used by many power companies in the United States and other countries for over six decades, until he was retired in the 1980s. He is now owned by Xcel Energy and still appears in some merchandise and social media.
