Floors Castle Pumping Station, Kelso, Allan Brothers of Aberdeen Engine

            Floors Castle was built in 1721 and is the home of the Innes-Ker family. It's a tourist destination located next to the town of Kelso in the Scottish Borders region. 

It's home to this lovely little pumping station located within it's grounds operation on a pair of tributaries running into the River Tweed. The engine found within the pumping station is a Allan Brothers of Aberdeen single cylinder Oil Engine. Although we have no history to define the construction of the pumping station, engines of this type tended to the built in the early 1900's pre WW1. The pump house is full of character and has drawings and newspaper clippings dating as far back as 1927!
