The sign naming the Mandeville Footbridge depicts native plantings and trees aligning the river. It's possibly made of copper. There's a sign at each end of the bridge.

The Mandeville Footbridge was constructed in 1874 to provide access for pedestrians and school children across the Kaiapoi River as the main road bridge was unreliable. It is a five span timber suspension foot bridge.
