Gibb River Road Boabs - a photo on Flickriver

Well I have finally had my film processed from my WA adventure and I am pleased to say that I am very happy with the results!

We stayed in 4 general locations during our Kimberley / Pilbara trip including in order, El Questro Station (taking in the area between Kununurra and Wyndham), Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungles), Broome (with a side trip to Derby) And Karijini National Park.

This image was taken on my first night at El Questro along the Gibb River Road. Although there are a lot of boab trees in the area, the vast majority are surrounded by other shrubbery and / or do not have an interesting backdrop. I was therefore pretty stoked to find this fantastic tree with the magnificent Cockburn ranges providing the perfect background feature.

The sky had been totally clear all day until just before sunset when this high level cloud popped into view. This image was actually taken well after sunset however it took a long time for this high cloud to really light up. It was definitely worth the wait however and it was a great way to kick off the trip!

I think I will initially post one image from each location that I visited to give everyone who is not familiar with the areas an idea as to the type of scenery that can be expected – I hope that you will enjoy the images as I certainly enjoyed creating them!
