Inujima - a photo on Flickriver

Inujima

            Inujima (the dog island) is a small island of the Seto inland see. It's part of the Okayama prefecture.
A brick-built copper refinery was built on the island beginning of the 20th century but it closed in 1929
From 2008, the Benesse corporation (the one who develop an art project and museums in Naoshima) started an art project to stimulate the tourism on the island. The first part of the project was centered on developing a new museum in the remains of the refinery: it becomes the Inujima Seirensho Art Museum. Scattered around the village, you can see different galleries belonging to the Art House project.

Inujima (l'île du chien) est une petite île de la mer intérieure (Seto). Elle fait partie de la préfecture d'Okayama.
Une raffinerie de cuivre en briques a été construite au début du 20ème siècle et fermée en 1920.
A partir de 2008, le groupe Benesse (celui qui a développé un projet artistique et des musées à Naoshima) a débuté un autre project artistique pour développé le tourisme dans l'île.
La première partie du projet était centré sur le développement d'un nouveau musée dans les vestiges de la raffinerie: c'est devenu le musée d'art de la raffinerie d'Inujima. Dispersés dans le village, l'on peut voir différentes galleries-installations qui font partie du "Art House project".
