LA CINTA MURARIA A FORMA DI STELLA

Unico esempio di città di fondazione ancora intatta nella propria forma di stella a nove punte, Palmanova è uno dei più importanti modelli di architettura militare in età moderna, con la sua pianta a stella formata da tre cerchie murarie concentriche, due realizzate dalla Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia composte da nove baluardi e nove rivellini e una terza, la più esterna, composta da nove lunette, aggiunta da Napoleone all’inizio del XIX secolo.
Dal 9 luglio 2017 Palmanova è Patrimonio Mondiale dell’Umanità dell’UNESCO – 53° sito italiano nella lista. Dal 2018, uno dei Borghi più Belli d’Italia.

THE STAR-SHAPED CITY WALLS

The only example of a foundation city still intact in its nine-pointed star shape, Palmanova is one of the most important models of military architecture in the modern age, with its star-shaped plan formed by three concentric city walls, two built by the Serenissima Republic of Venice composed of nine bastions and nine ravelins and a third, the most external, composed of nine lunettes, added by Napoleon at the beginning of the 19th century.
Since 9 July 2017, Palmanova has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site - the 53rd Italian site on the list. Since 2018, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
