Apocalypso, a post-modern toile for a post-apocalyptic world. Yes, the place has gone to the birds... with a more watery world on earth, caused by rising sea levels after the ice caps melt as a consequence of catastrophic climate change (like that described in Kim Stanley Robinson’s novel 2312, my holiday reading). Higher sea levels are shown as affecting all major landmarks, including the coconut palm trees of Pacific and other Island nations.

I love this post-modern deconstruction and reading from one of my best auditors: "Such a beautiful design I almost missed its doomsday message! The waves have a playful free form graffiti feel to them as though they were done separately and long after the event, defacing the more formal representations of the monuments and telling the story of their fate. The waves also have a scroll-like decorative look and appear unthreatening.... subtle and a little unnerving."

On the other hand, my husband likes it that the place has gone to the birds, as he's very fond of birds.
