My BJD luck...
...seems to have white skin tone ;)
She is my 4th white skin doll bought as 'grail' or 'huge luck' or 'for a great price'. Personally, I really don't like white skin dolls, if I have an option, I always choose normal skin tone. But when a certain doll is a kind of grail, for example limited edition, or discontinued, rare model, or comes for a great price, I don't complain, I take this doll even in white skin tone. First white-skinned one was SQ Lab Navi sleeping, bought for a great price, with beautiful make-up (done as the make-up of my own design) included. Then a rare and discontinued cutie, Asleep Eidolon Peppermint came to me also in white skin. Third white-skinned one was a Rosen Lied Mignon, a limited edition doll, whom I was able to buy for a nice price from a BJD collector from my country, so no fear for duty-tax and what is more no shipping tax, as I was able to do a self-pick up :) And now this 28cm (about 11 inch), thin grail appeared, of course, in white skin tone ! Yes, recently, my BJD luck is definetly in white skin tone !
This grail girl is a Soull Doll Jandi. Those dolls seem to be discontinued forever, and have become unavailable for a couple of years. It is hardly to see any of those dolls on secondary marketplace... Recently, I've wished for having one Barbie-sized BJD, with beautifully sculpted and nice-posing body. I recalled myself Soul Doll 'Little' line, dreaming of owning Jandi or Vivi, but I knew, that they are now discontinued probably forever... Of course there are other doll companies, who make such Barbie-sized dolls, but none of them suited my taste in 100%. Only Soul Dolls, only Jandi or Vivi...
After Christmas I had some free time, so I wandered through the DoA marketplace and suddenly saw a 'for sale' thread... Yes, it was Jandi. Yes, she was listed for a price equal to 3-4 good quality BJD wigs... about a 1/3 of her original price. I thought that maybe she is damaged, uneven, heavy yellowed or something... I sent PM to the seller, with questions. And, NO, she was in excellent condition, no damage, coming with her original box and papers, and with free wig, dress and owner's-handmade make-up. The seller was also her first owner. I paid for her, and still couldn't believe that she is really mine... such a rare doll... for such a great price...
... You know what ? I truly believe, that sometimes the Fate gives the doll a new owner, choosing the one, who will love her truly and the most of all of her potential owners, from all of the people who were interested in adopting this doll...
She is 6 years old, and her yellowing is surprisingly minimal ! Her owner didn't played with her, she must have been lying in the box for almost all the time. Her make-up is strange (those pale, white lips...) and a little damaged, so I'm going to erase it and send her for a new make-up. Her eyes seem to be too big for her, so I'll buy her new ones. Since she is perfectly Barbie-sized, she can use clothes from my Barbie dolls. Also no fear for shoes- she can use some of Lati Yellow shoes, as well as some Winx shoes and Zombie Girls shoes :) She already have one wig, which came with her, but for sure I'll buy her some new ones.
I gave her name: Silvana. She is SO tiny ! Her head is even smaller than my Barbie dolls' (Jandi head size is 3-4 inch). When she returns from the make-up, I'll post some comparison photos with my Barbie dolls.
On two last photos, my Silvana has got quickly-painted pink lips. I was very curious to see how she looks with painted lips. Not bad, but this colour is too bright for her. (Please excuse me my total lack of make-up abilities, to make the matters worse, I did this lip painting using old eye-liner brush and nail polish... I have no BJD make-up tools, as I'm not skilled enough to do doll make-ups...)
I'm SO happy having her <3
