Before the Inferno - a photo on Flickriver

Before the Inferno

            Peaceful moonrise with Orion in the early morning off of the Haleakala Highway.  Haleakala mountain in the right background.  Sugar cane leaves were waving and rustling in the warm consistent breeze.   
 
3:18 am. and the traffic was light except for an occasional vehicle travelling up probably to catch the sunrise at the summit.  

There was a water tanker truck parked at the top of the hill with its lights off but the diesel engine was idling breaking the silence.  

I knew I was in the right place but the wind was blowing from my right to left across the highway.  Not a good place to be for what is about to happen next.
