Scudding along near Scadabay - a photo on Flickriver

            Rain was never far away during our two weeks in the Outer Hebrides, but it gave us some interesting clouds too! 

Loch Plocrapoil and the nearby townships of Plocrapool and Scadabay sit on the east side of South Harris south of Tarbert. The area is known as The Bays and is a 'cnoc-and-lochan' landscape due to the mixture of ice-moulded rocky hillocks with numerous (usually) small lochs/lochans between them, Loch Plocrapoil being one of the biggest (if not the biggest).

The road which winds its narrow, bendy way through this weird and wonderful landscape to link the townships is known as 'The Golden Road' - a possibly apocryphal reference to the huge cost of building it. We were staying at Meavaig near its northern end.
