Walking in a Danish Beech Woods, in the Spring of 1971

            Looking rather like a “story-book” illustration (I think that "Snow White" might be coming along, just around that next bend of the path), this is a new version, re-edited in 2014, of one of my photos that I posted to my photostream a couple of years ago.  I was never really satisfied with that original version. This is a view in a very beautiful Danish park, north of Copenhagen.  This image was scanned from my original 35mm slide, which was shot in the Spring of 1971 with a Mamiya/sekor 1000 DTL. 

That year, as a college student, I (along with about 200 other American students) had the opportunity to travel to Denmark and attend the University of Copenhagen for the Spring semester. I lived with a truly wonderful Danish family in a suburb north of the city (near Lyngby) and would ride a train into Copenhagen each day for my classes which were taught in English. My “host” family had four children, the oldest was Poul Henrik (who was my age and also a student at the University--although his classes were held at a different campus than mine.) We quickly became very good friends and would often spend most of Saturday and Sunday walking through the beautiful neighborhoods, countryside, forests, and parks that were near their home. Through the years, our families have kept in touch and I truly cherish their friendship and those incredible six months that I spent living in Denmark!
