            De l’académie de dessin au musée.
Le bâtiment abritant l’Espace gallo-romain n’a pas toujours revêtu pareille fonction. Il abritait à l’origine l’académie de dessin dont l’inscription est encore visible. Construite à partir de 1835, celle-ci avait un but surtout artistique à la base, comme le souligne l’historien, Jean-Pierre Ducastelle, « on y initiait au dessin à l’art ».
