            For me, the eyes are about the most accurate way to age a cat.  Some cats maintain weight and muscling even as they get older and some very young cats have such bad teeth that they to have many extracted so body condition and teeth aren't great ways to tell if a cat is young or old but I've never met a young cat who has wrinkled, speckled irises.  As they age, many cats get either pigment change in their irises (spots, freckles, speckles or ribbons) or the irises appear wavy or wrinkled.

Zoey is 17 and her body looks like a young adult's and by the towel wrapped around her "barber-shop style" you can infer she is as fierce as a young lioness but the speckles in her eyes don't lie - she's a senior.
