West Coast Rail Loco 37669 about to take the Aldeburgh Branchline, closed to passenger traffic since 1966. The Mayflower Tour, Charity Rail Tours 15 04 2018

            Just 30 minutes earlier, this scene was shrouded in fog, but it lifted sufficiently to see Charity Railtours 'Mayflower Tour' about to enter the Aldburgh Branchline,

The branchline now terminates just outside of Leiston at Sizewell, 4 miles short of Aldeburgh and was used until recently for Nuclear Power Station traffic.

The Network Rail Chap was there not only to operate the Groundframe, but also to 'clip' the points to prevent any movement under the train and is required for passenger workings.
