In this marvelous age of Exif files, I can use them to reconstruct my extemporaneous, impromptu, experiments on lunar photography.

I tried out my new, but outmoded, Canon 75 to 300 mm lens on lunar photography. I think it did well. I have to blow these shots up so I can see if there's any detail. Had I really been planning, I would have used Raw mode instead of JPEG.

I tried variations around ISO 200 to 400, with a shutter speed of 1/200 second or so. I remembered that works well with a number of camera's for shooting the moon. Later i will look at my moon shots with a Kodak Easyshare Z915 camera too. I was pretty busy. I used the Kodak hand held because it has vibration removal.

I had experimented with this lovely Canon 75-300 zoom lens for flower photography last spring, and i really liked it for Jacaranda flower clusters on high branches... It does not have image compensation to take out shake from hand held photos, so I tried out a really nice tripod i've had for ages and never used before. It worked really well...

Next, i need a cable release so i don't touch the camera at all when taking a photo...

It was great fun shooting our planet Earth's natural satellite, in its monthly full view, at its closest approach in 19 years.

The average distance between the moon and earth is about 238,000 miles. But on March 19, the moon was only 221,567 miles away from the earth. NASA scientist Jim Garvin says that the phenomenon of super moon is most noticeable when it occurs at the same time as a full moon. March 19 is also a full moon day, and this super moon is the second for 2011. The first super moon of this year occurred on February 18.
This time I was ready!
