ESDC 31, High Street, Burton on Trent, 1983

            In times past, Burton on Trent was always a fascinating town to visit, especially for its transport delights. The small municipal fleet operated both new and secondhand buses, all of which were generally well presented.

LBF231V (No31) was one of the fifteen East Lancs bodied Dennis Dominator purchased new by East Staffordshire District Council. The Dominators arrived in small batches between 1978 and 1981, their presence displacing Burton's last traditional back-loading bus fleet. 

31 was selected to become an all over advert bus for ESDC, and carried at least two different all-over adverts for businesses in the town.

In 1985, ESDC merged their transport undertaking with that Stevenson of Uttoxetter, ending decades of municipal transport operation in the brewery town. 

The 'Dennis Dominator' did not fit with the profile of the then Stevenson's bus fleet. However, these buses retained a high market value and were a bus type in demand elsewhere. Therefore all fifteen Dominators were quickly disposed of. 

Dominators 22, 23, 27-29, 35, 36, 38, 39 made their way to Kent to serve with Maidstone & District, mainly to be seen in and around Chatham. 

Dominators 30-34 & 37 were sold to Thamesdown to serve the people of Swindon in Wiltshire.
