BABYLON FIVE - NARN AMBASSADOR G'KAR, INITIAL SCULPTURE FOR PROSTHETIC MASK - FRONT VIEW

My favourite character from the magnificent Science Fiction television series Babylon Five was Ambassador G'Kar of the Narn Regime. 

So it was practically a given I'd make myself a G'Kar costume at some stage back in the 1990s. 

The key aspect to the costume was, of course, the prosthetic full face mask. I worked out that I could essentially replicate the character with a full head and partial shoulder prosthetic. 

This photo shows the completed initial sculpture, built up on one of my head and shoulder plaster busts. This was, I think, the fourth complex prosthetic piece I made after my Klingon, Ferengi and Predator masks. 

Eventually the clearly defined mouth section would be cast as a seperate piece, but at this point I included it in the main sculpt so I could make sure I maintained the symmetry of the mask. 

It's sculpted in white plasticine and took a couple of weeks to get the way I wanted it.

This is an old, pre-digital photo I took as I was shooting some quick documentation, since this sculpture was destroyed during the mould making process.
