Mourning the King's passing. News Media. Grand Palace. Bangkok 2016

            It has been 2 weeks since the King Passed. Hundreds of thousands of people have mourned outside the Grand Palace for 15 days. Practical problems. Tons and tons of garbage. Styrofoam. Plastic.  After the 15 day the Grand Palace was opened to the general public to pay respects. Initially 20k people per day were allowed through. First they had to que up to get a ticket to enter. Then they had to que up to enter. After one or two days this became chaos. People were sleeping on the parade ground and streets to be first in line in the morning. Changes were made. Free food and drink had to be environmentally friendly. The ticket que was scrapped for first come first served basis. the number of people was upper from 20k to 30k per day and the hours extended to 5:30am to 9pm. We arrived at 5:30 at the parade ground, a very large grassy area just outside the palace. Well organized. Several entrances to the fenced grounds and then funneled around the outside edge to the line waiting for tickets. We opted out and decided to sit in the center to watch the sunrise. News crews started setting up as more and more people arrived and the day began heating up. The taxi ride home took almost an hour because of the traffic congestion.
