Preserved John Fishwick & Sons, Leyland, 26 OFV621X - Leyland National 2 NL116AL11/1R

            Fishwick's, now sadly no longer, were a loyal Leyland customer. Well they were based in Leyland's back yard and operated a few Leyland demo. vehicles on their behalf. New in 12/1981, along with sister 16, OFV620X, which is leading, this well presented National 2 is seen here on climbing A5094 New Road, Whitehaven, during the Workington Transport Heritage Trust's second day of the excellent 'Leyland National 51' rally and running day, on 30/04/2023. This event was organised on the back of the previous year's successful 'Leyland National 50' event that commemorated fifty years since the entry into service of the first National to be constructed at the Lillyhall plant that is situated near Workington. These National's are heading for a 'photoshoot' at the former Leyland National plant. Sadly, enthusiast friendly Fishwick's ceased trading on 24/10/2015 after entering administration. © Peter Steel 2023.
