37100 York 1E28 27th August 1983

            The red pen was out twice today, once for 37126 on the Blackpool & was about to used again as 37100 rolls majestically into York past a signal that doesn't appear to be there anymore on the 1E28, 0820 Glasgow Queen Street-Scarborough. This train was shown as RA Darlington-Scarborough in the public timetable but called at York to run round. Unfortunately, this procedure would sometimes take place in the Centre Roads which called for some discreet behaviour from the bashing fraternity-luckily today the station was not too busy so the run round was accomplished in the  platform. In just a few minutes we would be heading off along the Scarborough platforms in the background. The grimy Gateshead machine bears the scars from a recent side-swipe level with the  roof grills & extending to the rear cab door. Date is Saturday 27th August 1983.
