Toys and games asia

In this exhibition, gather pieces of private collectors and the Museum of the East to tell a story that begins in the local and traditional toys and toys just in industrial, from Asia, invaded the world
Attributed to Gautama Buddha (sixth century BC or) the first written list of games and toys in Asia. The list of games and toys of the Buddha still exist today in Asia and some of them spread throughout the world.
Most of the games and toys was born in Asia: the chess and ludo were invented in India, the mikado and diabolo in China, the top modern reinvented itself in Korea and Malaysia struggle parrots. In Asia also came to prosper some games and toys foreigners: mancala, from Africa Arab, card games, developed in Europe, and the mass production of tin toys and celluloid, introduced by the Americans. The Portuguese were also vehicles of this large flow of ideas, bringing, for example, the game Talu to Malacca and Macao.

Brinquedos e jogos da ásia
Nesta exposição, reúnem-se peças de coleccionadores particulares e do acervo do Museu do Oriente para contar uma história que começa nos brinquedos tradicionais e locais e acaba nos brinquedos industriais que, a partir da Ásia, invadiram o mundo.
Atribui-se a Gautama Buda (século VI ou V a.C.) a primeira lista escrita de jogos e brinquedos asiáticos. Os jogos e brinquedos da lista de Buda ainda hoje existem na Ásia e alguns deles espalharam-se por todo o mundo.
A maior parte dos jogos e brinquedos nasceu na Ásia: o xadrês e o ludo foram inventados na Índia, o diabolo e o mikado na China, o pião moderno reinventou-se na Coreia e a luta de papagaios na Malásia. No continente asiático também vieram a prosperar alguns jogos e brinquedos estrangeiros: a mancala, vinda da África árabe, os jogos de cartas, desenvolvidos na Europa, e a produção em massa de brinquedos de lata e de celulóide, introduzidos pelos Americanos. Os Portugueses foram também veículos desta larga circulação de ideias trazendo, por exemplo, o jogo do talú para Malaca e para Macau.

The Museum of the Orient (Portuguese: Museu do Oriente) in Lisbon, Portugal celebrates the history of Portuguese exploration with a collection of Asian artifacts. The museum opened in May, 2008, and is located in a refurbished industrial building on the Alcântara waterfront. The collection includes Indonesian textiles, Japanese screens, antique snuff bottles, crucifixes made in Asia for Western export, and the Kwok On Collection of masks, costumes, and accessories.

O Museu do Oriente está instalado no edifício Pedro Álvares Cabral, antigos armazéns da Comissão Reguladora do Comércio do Bacalhau em Alcântara, Lisboa.
O museu reúne colecções que têm o Oriente como temática principal, nas vertentes histórica, religiosa, antropológica e artística.
A exposição permanente engloba 1400 peças alusivas à presença portuguesa na Ásia e 650 peças pertencentes à colecção Kwok On.
O museu é da responsabilidade da Fundação Oriente e foi inaugurado no dia 8 de Maio de 2008.
A actual directora é Maria Manuela d'Oliveira Martins.
Foi classificado como Monumento de interesse público (MIP) pelo IGESPAR em 15 de junho de 2010.
