Ghost Train to Pyeongyang? - a photo on Flickriver

            Dorasan Station was built in 2006 right on the border between the two Koreas, at the height of a brief warming in relations. At the time, agreements were made between the two countries to allow travel between them, as well as passage by train through the country. It's been a dream for a long, long time by those in the South to be able to connect with the rest of Asia (and Europe) by rail, via the Trans-Siberian and Trans-Chinese Railways. 

Today, there are still frieght trains that travel back and forth - primarily in support of an industrial park that the South built there - but no passenger trains. A couple of passenger trains did travel through successfully in 2007, but that experiment was quickly put on hold as tensions have steadily increased (due to various military skirmishes, nuclear ambitions, incursions by North Korean commandos into the South, and the killing of a South Korean tourist by a North Korean soldier while the tourist was staying at a vacation resort in the north.)
