Bourdeau (Savoie, France) - a photo on Flickriver

            "Ce château est, selon l’écrivain Albanis de Beaumont, l’un des plus anciens de Savoie. Propriété de la famille de Seyssel dès 1263,il est légué aux Jésuites de Chambéry en 1671 qui le cèdent rapidement à Claude Antoine Sallier de la Tour de Cordon, premier président de la Chambre des comptes. Ses descendants le conservent jusqu’à la Révolution, où il est endommagé. Il est acquis en 1800 par J-B. Viviand qui revend ses pierres pour bâtir la nouvelles église paroissiale. Après quelques travaux menés par l’avocat chambérien Antoine Métral en 1810, le château doit sa restauration de style Troubadour à Joseph Giraud et à l’architecte Pellegrini en 1875. Il appartient depuis 1880 à la famille Gigot de Villefaigne. Ce château est connu par la littérature : Montaigne y signale à son retour d’Italie au XVIe s. une fabrique d’armes et Georges Sand le choisit pour cadre de son roman Mademoiselle la Quintinie en 1863 :“Tu connais ce beau pays de Savoie ; je ne sais pas si tu te rappelles cette localité, tout ce rivage du lac du côté qui ferme à pic la muraille dentelée appelée la chaîne des Monts du Chat (...)] De là, on domine tout le lac, long, étroit, sinueux et ressemblant à un large fleuve du nouveau monde ; mais quel fleuve a cette transparence de saphir et ces miroitements irisés ?”
