Beavis take delivery their Spaceliner on 25th March 1985

            Beavis take delivery of the only N117/2 Spaceliner to be registered in the UK. (Originally 684ALP)

The reason why these coaches never sold in large numbers was probably due the the UK tilt test being tougher than in Germany.

Because there are no passenger seats downstairs, this coach had to pass the single deck test. The later N117/3 Spaceliner had a downstairs lounge so would have been assessed under double decker legislation.

57 seater Spaceliners of this era were popular in Germany, and this coach was ordered as such. The seating capacity had to be reduced to only 49 to pass the UK tilt test.

The Spaceliner left the fleet in October 1995, having been re-registered as A3ALP. I was lucky enough to travel on it a number of times, including a couple of journeys sat in the front row!
