Alonzo Mendenthal Folger was born on 10 September 1854 in Illinois, the son of John Folger and Elizabeth Reynolds. Alonzo and his siblings grew up on the family farm in Elwood, Vermilion County, Illinois. A Quaker, he attended Earlham College in Indiana from 1879 to 1881. Alonzo was married on 11 September 1887 to Clara Castle, and the couple had at least two children. Clara, born 12 November 1860 in Indiana, was the daughter of Zerah Castle (born 1835) and Mary Carmack (1841-1928). In 1880, Clara was living with her family on a farm in Elwood, Illinois. In 1900, Alonzo was a farm laborer in Elwood, Illinois. Clara Castle passed away 21 November 1901. From at least 1910 through 1920, Alonzo worked as a real estate agent, living in the Chicago area with his two daughters, Mabel and Ida. In 1930, he was a real estate agent in Fulford, Dale County, Florida. Almonzo M. Folger passed away in Dade City, Florida, on 26 November 1938.
Mabel C. Folger was born 29 January 1890 in Illinois, the daughtER of Alonzo Folger and Clara Castle. Mabel lived with her father and sister in Chicago after her mother’s death. She was married circa 1927 to Frank P. Rosenberg (born 1881). In 1930, the couple and their daughter were living in Fulford, Florida, where Frank was a manager at a lumber mill. By 1940, the family had relocated to Gadsen, Albama, and Frank was the forman for a steel sheet manufacturer. Sometime before 1951, the family relocated to California. Mabel passed away in Los Angeles on 3 July 1966.
