I was standing next to the boat ramp on the Hastings River where nearby several fishermen were cleaning their catch of the day.

As can be expected the pelicans and seagulls quickly make a move to grab whatever morsels are left and thrown into the water.

This time was no exception and the area was soon crowded with pelicans and each one was there to ensure that they did not miss a morsel.

The pelican closest to the camera seemed to be the new kid on the block and was a bit reserved unlike the other pelican who was very experienced and was in the process of expanding its huge beak in readiness.

Afterall the pelican has the longest beak of any bird in the world and it extends almost 20 inches long, about 50 cm.

By the time the fishermen left I can confidently say that all bills received their due diligence.
