NW entrance to the shumshu-paramushir straits - in the kuril island group

            views at late afternoon within the relative calm waters of the narrow second Kuril strait separating Shumshu (AKA Шумшу, Shumushu, Shumushu-tō) island and Paramushir (AKA Парамушир, Paramushir; Paramushiru-tō) island in the northern most section of the Kuril (Kurile) Islands, a chain of volcanic islands crossing the pacific between the northern tip of japan and the southern tip of kamchatka (russia).
