CELEBRITY COLOURS.. - a photo on Flickriver

            Agecroft CEGB RSH 0-4-0ST 7416 of 1948 No.1 stands outside the shed on 12-9-81. This was an open day to mark the final day of service for steam. 
Apologies as I have managed to cut a little bit of the loco off at the bottom I may have another attempt to rescan. 

the locomotives here became almost entirely redundant as a conveyor belt was constructed to carry coal directly across Agecroft Road (A6044) and into the station from Agecroft Colliery.The colliery continued to supply the stations until its closure in March 1991. Despite this however, locomotives were still used to shunt wagons of coal to and from the colliery.

In 2008 no.1 was purchased by the Museum of Science and Industry at Manchester in a dismantled state. It then underwent a three year restoration programme which cost £120,000. It has subsequently operated at the museum.

The locomoted was reported to be at the National railway Museum at York in the summer of 2020 where it was operational. 

The other 2 locos from Agecroft have also been preserved.
