De Polders Poelgeest (18 hectare) liggen tegen de nieuwbouwwijken van Leiden en Oegstgeest aangeplakt.
We hebben de polders ingericht als moeras- en rietgebied. Hierdoor is het nu een waar vogelparadijs. 
Bergeenden, zilverreigers, lepelaars, blauwborsten, kluten: je kunt ze tijdens een wandeling allemaal tegenkomen. 

De futen hebben een lang broedseizoen van maart tot in oktober, meeste broedsels mei-juni. 
Aantal eieren gemiddeld 3-4, varieert van 1-6. 
Meestal één broedsel, soms tweede als jongen eerste nest 6-7 weken oud zijn. 
Broedduur: 25-29 dagen.

The Polders Poelgeest (18 hectares) are glued to the new housing estates of Leiden and Oegstgeest.
We have set up the polders as swamp and reed areas. As a result, it is now a true bird paradise.
Shelducks, egrets, spoonbills, bluethroats, avocets: you can encounter them all during a walk.

The grebes have a long breeding season from March to October, most broods May-June.
Number of eggs averages 3-4, ranges from 1-6.
Usually one brood, sometimes second when young first litter are 6-7 weeks old.
Incubation period: 25-29 days.
