NGC 128 Galaxy Group in Pisces - a photo on Flickriver

            Anywhere  you look in the night sky there are a whole host of stars.  Every single one of them is in our own galaxy, the Milky Way. They are all a long way off but still close in Cosmological terms. Look deeper and there are whole galaxies out there, all over the place.

This group are in the direction  of the constellation Pisces and are known as the NGC 128 Group of Galaxies.

NGC 128 is a spiral about 190 million light years away and is about 165,000 light years across (about half as big again as the Milky Way). It is famous for its 'peanut shell' shaped bulge in the middle.

NGC 127 interacts with its parent galaxy NGC 128 and there is a bridge of stellar material between them. NGC 130 is an unbarred lenticular galaxy in the same group. A lenticular galaxy is a disc shaped galaxy of aging stars without spiral arms.

NGC 125 is about 115,000 light years across so it is slightly bigger than the Milky Way.

Even with that there are other fuzzy patches in the region which are more galaxies.

I labelled the galaxies because these are not common targets so it might help when researching them.
