If I were to sum up our trip to Madagascar I would have to say it is over rated and disappointing. The Malagasy people are destroying the natural habitat at an alarming rate. As the wildlife's habitat is being destroyed by chopping and burning down the dry forests as well as the rain forests the animals simply have no where to go. Throughout one part of the island there were fires as far as the eye could see and not a tree in sight. We travelled hundreds of miles at a time to see pockets of Lemurs. What was once a thriving animal the Lemurs are gradually been pushed from pillar to post with some in serious decline. In what is left of the famous rain forests of Ranomafana  and Adasibe National parks there are few birds and animals. We trekked one of these forests for over 6 hours and saw no more than a handful of birds. They are not in abundance  as the books and Internet  Travel Companies  lead us to believe.  If Madagascar does not come to the aid of its magnificent wildlife then with in a few decades Lemurs will cease to exist in the wild. Having said all of this we did manage to get some fabulous images of these wonderful animals and a few birds.
