The two 6 inch BL guns replacing the Mk VI were nos 1553 & 1695 , they were moved there from Leighton Battery Perth In 1943 when Leighton Battery installed 5.2inch guns.

Originally mounted at Fort Largs Adelaide around 1910, moved in 1926 no 1553 was at Fort Forrest and 1695 Arthurs Head Both Fremantle W A

In 1960 Gun nos 1553 & 1695 then removed for scrap

Barrel No 1695 was then installed upright muzzle down in the scrap yard as a crane where it remained until finally cut up.

No 1553 was subsequently recovered from the scrap yard, a replacement mounting and cradle was obtained from Bermuda and returned to Princess Royal Fortress.
