Horseshoe Reef Lighthouse stands alone in no man's land between Canada and the United States. At a cost of $45,000 in 1851, today would be equivalent of $500K it came into existence by an act of Congress. This lighthouse is closer to George Washington than it is to Joe Biden, in age.

Something to marvel at, when engineering efforts created things that were meant to last for 100s of years.

Now its a bird sanctuary and crapping post, it would appear. The Great Lakes will eventually take this island down, with the massive storms that it makes, but as for now it'll be a sitting post for the wayward birds of the Western New York and Southern Ontario area.
