The New Thunderbird had rolled off the Dearborn Thunderbird painted Colonial White in the early months of 1956 and towed to the West Coast for delivery to Bogart
Interestingly, before taking delivery of the new Ford, Bogart reportedly had the car painted Slate Gray the same color as his Jaguar XK120. The interior was preserved in the standard black and white vinyl, just like we see in the car today. The impressive documentation on the file in support of Bogart Thunderbird includes the Ford Dealers Service Policy Card, typed on Humphry's Bogart name and address in Mapleton Drive Beverly Hills issued by Bill Heath Ford of North Hollywood dated March 20, 1956 as well as a California in Bogart's name. After Bogart's death, the Thundernird passed through his estate until it was sold in 1959 by the Bogart estate and his widow Lauren Bacall to Linn Unkefer of Beverly Hills Calafornia an employee at the 20th Century Fox (20th Century studios at the time).
The Tunderbird would be kept by the Unkefer family and used by Betty Unkefer, she drove it for approximately 90,000 miles. In 1980 the car was sold to the Roy Rioux Collection and displayed there. The Bogie Thunderbird remained in the Roux collection on display until 1998 when the car was auctioned for a record sum and purchased by Jobe Collection and there purchased by Metropolo Classics.
Today, Humpry Bogart's old Thunderbrid has been preserved in much of its original condition. Just as you would want on a celebrity's car.
The car has driven 93566 miles when Metropolo Classics was purchased.
The Slate Gray exterior color as ordered by Bogart and the original black and white interior and the car has the original Continental kit new for 1956 which includes the spare wheel and the town & country radio and a removable fiberglass top,
